The establishment of the New York State Cyber Research Institute (CRI) is underway as a subsidiary of the Griffiss Institute, located at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park, Rome, New York.
The concept for a CRI was developed by the CYBER NY Alliance and created as a result of a bill sponsored by New York State Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, and signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo in December 2012.
A primary focus area of the CRI is sensitive and classified cyber security research and development, leveraging the groundbreaking work being done at AFRL Rome with its industry and academic partners.
The CRI will provide the venue for developing solutions to challenge problems that impact us daily and jeopardize the safety, security and stability of the infrastructure and assets of New York State, and our country, in particular our national finance and banking, emergency communication, energy and transportation systems.
The founding CRI Board Members: Dr.John Bay; Dr. Peter Bloniarz, Dean of the College of Computing and Information, the University at Albany and Mr. John Graniero, President/CEO JAG Technologies.
